Cluckie is a vampire chicken who is forced to hunt chickens by day because they are on total lockdown at night. Seeing as vampires explode in sunlight, our fanged and feathered anti-hero must devise ingenious sun-dodging ways to protect himself and get his grub!!

We produced a series of five, one minute episodes for Nickelodeon UK, the aim of the show was to try and capture the essence of the golden age of animation whilst updating it in a contemporary way for today’s audience. Below are the episodes, afterwards you can head over to our ‘Art Of’ section to view the whole production process from our original pitch to final movie sequences.

Over the sea and far away lies one of the worlds most beautiful landscapes. Nestled within the lumpy hills is the School of Love, an academy of higher education made specifically for the teachings of romance. A school where Cupid rookies graduate and fly off into the wide world to spread the love. It’s graduation day and our four new students Miss Fire, Birdy, The Twins and Commando are getting their wings, bows and arrows. Then they must prove themselves by making some whoopie between man and woman…

After the success of the Movie Time packaging Nickelodeon International came back to us with this little number. We were given a simple brief with character ideas for Valentines Day. What emerged were our thoughts and funnies about romance, love and explosive arrow heads!

As Seen On TV is an animated sketch show that spoofs everything on contemporary television. Presented as though some unseen viewer is flicking through the channels, As Seen On TV takes its characters and sets from the television shows and films that we all know and love.

Freakish Kid developed, designed and produced the pilot for FX International Channels (Fox). Included on KidTV are a selection of sketches from the 10 minute pilot. Freakish Kid developed a photo cut out technique for the show so that it would appeal to adult audiences and also make it a little different from the current crop of flash/cartoon animated parodies.

Movie Time

Our three main characters, Mister Chair, Missy ‘HOT’ Dog and Agent Cup turn up to the latest movie premiere all dying to grab as much limelight and media air time as they can. They fight, trick and generally cause each other as much grief as possible – after all its a (hot) dog eat (hot) dog world out there! Of course as soon as the cameras disappear they all become the best of friends again! Air kisses anyone?

Movie Time Packaging was designed and produced for Nickelodeon International. Freakish Kid used illustration animation to produce the spots to give it a richer, textured feel. The animated spots were designed to ‘top and tail’ the latest movie trailers that air on the Nick International channels. Gags and reaction shots were also designed to be cut into the movie trailers to create the illusion of the characters watching the movie. Watch the entire animation below!

Weetos Strongman

It’s the classic set up… Good versus Evil… Light versus Dark… Breakfast cereal versus Spoon! In these bumper spots the tough guy Weeto is giving the cheeky Spoon a good old fashioned smack down!

The spots were produced for Nickelodeon UK for their morning block. Nick wanted a set of sponsor spots to accompany the latest Weetos commercial that was airing on UK television, an ad that was produced by Ardman Animation .Freakish Kid was asked to design and produce a second version of the stop motion Ardman character.

Scalextric Spots

Nick UK asked us to produce a selection of sponsor spots based on the famous model car racing sets. They wanted them hyper-real with a twist. The races all started the same – cars revving their engines for the big race – then a cartoon hand would appear, press the controller’s trigger and everything would go a little crazy!

To give it that hyper-real look Freakish Kid was asked to produce a photo cut-out style of animation, using the actual cars and track as models we produced 6 sponsor spots all ending with different cartoon gags.

Nickelodeon Idents

We were asked to create, design and produce 5 channel idents for Nick International. Our only brief was that it had to relate to children in the design. We decided to use the setting of various school exercise books, lined paper, graph paper etc.

Other than that we were given full creative control. We had an amazing time working on this job because we had so much fun! What was produced is a set of idents that we are very proud of.

Jetix Atom Promo

Jetix CE asked us to produce a 40 second commercial to promote a new on air competition. The idea was to have the characters watch the promo trailer that aired on Jetix and then argue with each other over who would be the action figure given away as the prize.

We used the actual action figures in the 40 second spot. Much like stop motion we took photographs of the figures in certain poses then brought them into the computer and animated them. The result is something that looks hyper-real.

MTV/Sony Promo

We produced this promo spot for MTV for the launch of the new Sony Video Walkman. It centered around the idea of the main character strolling through his neighbourhood listening to and watching his favourite music. Everytime he changed the track he was listening to, the memory that the music was linked to popped out of the Walkman and floated off across the urban landscape.

The aim of the promo was to show how you and your music are intrinsically linked and that the new Sony Video Walkman could help you relive your memories, anytime, anyplace, anywhere. Freakish Kid designed and produced the spot for Brothers and Sisters UK, MTV and Sony.
